THE NIGHTOWLS OF COVENTRY is a cinematic time capsule of changing times in the 70s in Coventry, a quiet Jewish neighborhood in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, that's suddenly inundated with bikers, hippies and incipient yuppies. Nostalgia buffs will enjoy real-life photos of the old 'hood. But the story of a randy, gambling owner of a deli (the only game in town open late) who freely hits on waitresses and avoids the bills is not for everyone. Though the pacing is slo-o-o-w, if you enjoy character pieces you'll get a kick out of long-time customers Benny (Allan Pinsker) and Morty (Bernard Canepari), who come every day to hear themselves talk, yet never do because they're too busy interrupting.
